Why is waterproofing necessary?
It is necessary because it seals off the elements and protects plaster, brickwork and internal property
Because the cost of repairing damages due to areas not waterproofed correctly is huge
We know it is a grudge purchase, but rather get it done sooner than later, as repairing internal plaster & paint is expensive
When should i waterproof when building?
As soon as possible … Once a slab has been poured, it can be screeded within 48 hours and waterproofed 24 hours thereafter.
The slab will continue to dry out from the underside, and this also gives the concrete great strength (As long as structural cracks have not formed from incorrect concrete installation) You do not want to waterproof a saturated concrete slab, unless you have adequate mushroom venting installed, this will help in the "drying out" of the slab
